Rated 5-Stars By Hundreds of Happy Explorers

★★★★★ "Tortuga Jack was a great guide, taking us paddling through the mangroves and showing us sea jellies, turtles, sharks, sponges, and birds. The whole family had a wonderful experience. Allison drove us to and from our Key West hotel. The hogfish tacos at the restaurant next door were fabulous, too! FYI—Don’t leave without getting a picture with Tortuga Jack—he’s the Poet Laureate of Key West!" – Annika R.

★★★★★ "We just did the guided tour with Kristin, and it was magnificent. It’s absolutely beautiful and serene... Kristin was amazing at finding and pointing out so many different creatures in the water - sea stars, fish, two sharks (not scary - they’re small), Queen Conch and Milk Conch. The jellyfish garden was also incredible. I’m so happy we booked this vs the tours that were closer in to Key West (and prob more crowded). The company offers a free shuttle ride to and from your hotel in Key West when you book a guided tour. Totally worth it and highly recommend!!" – Angi S.

★★★★★ "We have been coming here for years! We've done several guided tours which are always fun and informative. We have also rented kayaks and done self-guided excursions. The mangroves are beautiful and home to clear water and a variety of wildlife. The staff are all friendly and amazing and knowledgeable about the environment and sharing information about the local ecosystem. I highly recommend visiting them!" – Ashli C.

FAQ

Common Questions

  • How wet will I get during the tour? –  Guests remain in their kayak or on their paddleboard throughout our Guided Mangrove Eco Tour, so there's no need to get in the water. While you may get a few splashes along the way, most guests stay relatively dry. Your seat may get a little wet during your paddle experience, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothing that can handle a bit of water.

  • Do I have to join a guided tour, or can I explore on my own? – Both options are available. In addition to our Guided Mangrove Eco Tours, we offer kayak and paddleboard rentals for guests who prefer to explore at their own pace.

Every rental includes a safety briefing, paddling instruction, and an overview of the area using an aerial map. We'll show you the mangrove trail entrances, recommended routes, and point out wildlife and areas of interest to look for during your adventure.

  • Do you have merchandise available? – Yes! We carry a selection of items to help you enjoy your time in the Keys, including large-brim sun hats, reef-safe sunscreen, long-sleeve performance sun shirts, and a variety of Paddle Hut souvenirs and gifts.

  • What should I wear? – We recommend reef-safe sunscreen, a long-sleeve sun shirt, sunglasses, and a wide-brim hat.

  • Are changing rooms and dry storage available? – Restrooms are available for our guests at Geiger Key Marina and Restaurant (at launch location). While we do not have dedicated changing rooms, guests are welcome to use the restroom facilities before and after their tour.

We also provide complimentary onshore dry storage for personal belongings. Guests may leave items such as towels, bags, keys, and extra clothing in our secure storage cabinet while enjoying their time on the water.

  • Do I need experience? – No, our guides will get you set up and our equipment is made for all skill levels.

  • How hard is it to launch? – We have an excellent ramp designed for ease of use with railings, so customers can hang on, and get settled on a sturdy surface before sliding into the water.

  • Are children allowed? – Absolutely. Children as young as 2 years old are welcome. Younger children can ride in a tandem kayak with a parent or guardian.

  • Will I definitely see wildlife? – You will absolutely see wildlife. The question lies in exactly what wildlife will present during your tour. No two trips are the same.

  • How long are the tours? – Our Guided Mangrove Eco Tours are approximately 2 hours on the water. Please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time.

  • Is transportation included? – We have a free shuttle that will pick you up and drop you off in Key West.

  • What happens if it rains? – Safety comes first. If weather conditions are unsuitable for paddling, guests may reschedule their tour or receive a full refund.
